Type:

Function

The Research Commission broadly defines the mission and goals of the DMS in research, and may be divided into discipline-specific subcommissions as required. The research commission provides advice on research planning, and promotes collaboration between different scientific disciplines within the department and with other departments of the University. The commission also promotes the participation of the DMS in national and international research bodies, and advances third mission activities. The commission is also charged with attracting outside resources for research, and evaluating the results obtained by the research community within the DMS. The research commission is headed by the Vice-director of Research, and has a research communications person as direct point of contact for all matters regarding research promotion.
