Ricerca
- Dal 2000 a tutt’oggi: coordinatrice della ricerca di base dell’unità di Retinopatia diabetica diretta dal prof. Massimo Porta presso il Dipartimento di Scienze mediche dell'Università di Torino.
Studio dei meccanismi biochimici e molecolari alla base dell’etiopatogenesi delle complicanze microvascolari del diabete, in particolare della retinopatia diabetica. Sviluppo di modelli di coltura singola e di co-coltura di cellule microvascolari retiniche (endotelio e periciti), per studiare i meccanismi intracellulari del danno causato dall’eccesso di glucosio in circolo. Studio del possibile ruolo di molecole e farmaci nella correzione di tale danno. Creazione di linee cellulari immortalizzate per standardizzare i modelli di coltura. Studio delle interazioni tra matrice extracellulare, periciti ed endotelio e dell’influenza su di esse dell’ambiente microvascolare simil-diabetico.
- Stesura e rendicontazione di progetti di ricerca nazionali ed internazionali (Compagnia di San Paolo, Società Italiana di Diabetologia, Regione Piemonte, MIUR, EFSD - European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes, JDRF – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, VII European Framework Programme – Health 2011, Horizon 2020).
